Overview of NECP Lab
The Nuclear Engineering Computational Physics (NECP) laboratory of Xi'an Jiaotong U-niversity was founded in 2004, born from its predecessor, the Reactor-Physics Research Gro-up which was established in 1958.
The research and development of NECP covers nuclear-data processing, reactor physics numerical computation, advanced nuclear energy system design and development, transm-utation of high-level radioactive waste and nuclear-fuel-cycle analysis, etc. These researches are funded by more than 50 national projects and more than 100 commercial projects. Imp-ressive achievements have been accomplished including more than 170 SCI papers, more t-han 80 patents and more than 70 software copyrights. Consequently, NECP has been awar-ded more than 10 national and provincial awards including the Second Prize of National Te-chnological Invention Award and the Third Prize of National Science and Technology Progr-ess Award.
Based on the fundamental research achievements, more than 20 pieces of reactor phys-ics analysis software have been developed for various types of nuclear reactors, including NECP-Atlas for multifunctional nuclear-data processing, NECP-Bamboo for advanced PWR n-uclear design and core analysis, NECP-SARAX for fast-spectrum-reactor core design and an-alysis, NECP-X for high fidelity numerical reactor simulation, NECP-MCX and NECP-Hydra f-or shielding analysis, based on stochastic and deterministic theory respectively.
In NECP, there are a galaxy of highly qualified researchers including 6 professors (inclu-ding 1 guest professor), 3 associate professors and 2 assistant professors. Among those, th-ere is a member of the discipline evaluation group of the State Council, a chief scientist of 863 National Project, a winner of Excellent Youth Fund, an executive editor of Annals of Nucl-ear Energy, a New Century Talent issued by the Ministry of Education, etc. In recent years, more than 100 post-graduate students have graduated from NECP and they have become le-ading talents and technical backbones in Chinese nuclear industry, research institutes and national defense departments. NECP enjoys a high reputation in both domestic and internat-ional nuclear energy fields. Close cooperation has been established with many internationa-lly famous universities including MIT, University of Michigan, North Carolina State Universit-y, UNIST (South Korea), UC Berkeley, etc.
