Overview of scientific research
Since its establishment in 2004, the laboratory of computational physics of nuclear engineering has carried out systematic and innovative research from basic theory to software development and engineering application in nuclear data processing, advanced numerical calculation methods, research and development of advanced nuclear energy systems, evolution of high-level nuclear waste and nuclear fuel cycle analysis in nuclear reactor physics in view of the major application needs of advanced nuclear energy systems in civil nuclear power. The academic backbone of the team has successively undertaken a number of national projects such as the national 973 Plan, the 863 plan and National Natural Sciences Foundation of China, overcome a series of international academic problems such as high-precision computing, high-precision modeling and high confidence evaluation, obtained 85 invention patents, 73 software copyrights, published 170 SCI papers and 3 monographs. The research results have been applied by more than 20 units including the three nuclear power groups, resulting in economic benefits of more than 100 million yuan, and won more than 10 national, provincial and ministerial awards, including the first prize of Shaanxi science and technology in 2017 and the second prize of national technological invention in 2019. Based on the "spirit of moving to the west", the team innovated, established morality and trained more than 100 high-level talents with both political integrity and ability for the discipline of nuclear reactor physics in China, played a leading role in the industry, and won the second prize of teaching achievement in Shaanxi Province in 2019. The young academic backbone of the team has won the National Excellent Youth Fund, and has been selected into the "Young Elite Scientists Sponsorship Program by CAST" of China Association for science and technology, the new century talent of the Ministry of education, the National Postdoctoral innovation plan, the young scientific and technological star of Shaanxi Province, etc. The NECP culture of "novelty, enterprising, cooperation and persistence" created by the team over the years has played an important role in teaching and scientific research, and led the team to make important contributions to the country in terms of nuclear power autonomy, national defense service and talent training.
